Places of interest covered during the tour include the following: - Point Cruz Wharf Tour No. 2 This is a guided tour. Your tour will start at the Lelei Village at Tuvaruhu after a short trip by car or bus from your hotel. After crossing the Matanikau River, the walk will begin uphill to the
top of Galloping Horse Hills, which is featured in the movie “The Thin
Red Line” based on the novel with the same title by James Jones. Duration: approx. 4 hours Tour No. 3 This is a guided tour, which begins with transfer from your hotel. After 30minutes drive you will get to the village where the local guide will then accompany you. Enroute you will have the opportunity to view the flora and fauna, and will be crossing the Tenaru river nearly a dozen times before arriving at the waterfalls. It normally takes approximately 2 to 2 ? hours to get to the waterfalls. Be ready to get wet and have a good pair of hiking shoes (Bring your own lunch and water). Duration: 6 hours Tour No. 4 This is a guided tour, which begins from Point Cruz Yacht Club landing by motorized canoe. After 1 ? to 2 hours over Iron Bottom Sound you will land on the shores of Savo Island. The tour will give you the opportunity to see the Megapode fields and hike to the volcanic crater. Bring your own lunch and water. You will need a good pair of hiking shoes. Duration: approx. 7 hours Tour No. 5 At Tulagi the pre-war capital of British Solomon Islands Protectorate, your tour will take you to World War II historical sites and also colonial historical sites. You will have the opportunity to visit Gavutu Island and other sites of interest. Bring your own lunch and water. Duration: Full Day (8 hours) Tour No. 6 This guided tour has been designed to include scenes of the Battle of Guadalcanal especially the areas held by the Japanese Imperial forces in their efforts to regain Henderson Field, which was initially built by the Japanese forces using Korean labourers and Solomon Islanders. Enroute you will drive past Kakabona Village, Poha River, Bonegi Wreck, Tasifarongo and ending the tour at the outdoor Vilu War Museum. Most of the drive will be through coconut plantation and along the western coast of Guadalcanal Island with Savo Island, Florida Islands and Iron Bottom Sound on your right as you go westward. On the way back, you can stop at Bonegi Beach for lunch, an ideal spot for snorkeling. *Bring your own equipments if you wish to snorkel. |
