Itoh onsen situated along the eastern shore in the Izu Peninsula is excellent
access from Tokyo area. Various types of accommodations from popular minshuku-style
inns (home-based) to the large-scale hotels are scattered. It is said
that in the Edo Ages Ito onsen area was crowded with many people as spas.
This area is surrounded by the Sagami-Bay in the east side, and the mountains
in the west side with mild weather. The Ito hot springs themselves pour
out as much as 3,400 liters of hot water per minute and are the second
best in the country. There are many inns which make use of free-flowing
source of onsen.
